Loudoun County Magazine hosted its next 2023 Winter Speaker Series session with Renns Greene, Deputy Editor of Loudoun Now, on January 19th at the Sterling Library in Sterling. Intended to connect leadership experts and visionary leaders from Loudoun County and the nation’s rising companies and institutions, the Winter Speaker Series with Greene brought together students and members of the community to learn about the value of journalism for local communities and how local stories impact national and international people. Greene discussed the nature of working as a journalist and how journalism is changing during the 21st century. Audience members asked Greene about his experience of witnessing the butterfly effect with local stories and he referenced a recent story regarding Dominion Power serving Ashburn’s data centers. Should data centers cease to be powered, communities beyond Loudoun County would experience its effects.
Loudoun County Magazine Student Cohort members attended with Loudoun Youth’s Claude Moore Community Builders‘ and members of the public.
Loudoun County Magazine‘s 2023 Winter Speaker Series continues on February 9th with a talk from Abbas Haidarbaigi, a former United Nations Field Officer. The Winter Speaker Series is hosted February 9th at 6 p.m. at the Brambleton Library.
