Many Loudoun natives knows of Dig! Records and Vintage, a popular thrift store located in downtown Leesburg. The shop sells everything, from shoes, clothes, vinyls, you name it! Ever since opening in 2015, it’s been a main staple of Leesburg,. But like other small businesses, it closed for a short time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In March 2020 we had to close the shop for a few months to keep ourselves and our customers safe. I think the most challenging thing for us was not knowing what the future of the business, and humanity, would be. It was a wild time,” comments shop owner Kevin Longendyke.
Even though it was difficult, the power of social networking helped keep business booming at Dig! Records and Vintage. “Luckily we were able to keep things alive through social media. We posted records and clothes for sale on instagram and Facebook and offered shipping or back door pick-up. It really saved us. The support was crazy.”
As of Spring 2022, the store is up and running again, the same as it was before the pandemic began.
“One of the main things that sets us apart is the connections we are able to build with our customers. Folks spend time perusing the bins and you get to know them on a personal level. I’ve had customers here digging for records for hours! You get to talking, learning a little about each other and that’s always fun and not a typical experience one might have in other shops. Sometimes it feels like this is my house and folks are constantly stopping by to say hello and hangout. That’s a nice environment to be in, I think. Also we have lots of fun things on the walls to look at.”
Dig! Records and Vintage is located on 212C Loudoun St SE and is available online at:
