Richmond Poet Laureate Roscoe Burnems in collaboration with Mending Walls, a public art project and Emmy-winning documentary that connects artists from different cultures to speak openly about racism and then jointly paint a mural designed to bring people together and heal, invited Loudoun County Magazine Student Alumn and Arlington Youth Poet Laureate Kashvi Ramani to participate in “If These Walls Could Talk.” Burnmens created “If These Walls Could Talk” to increase the awareness of poetry and spoken word art.
A number of poets were commissioned to create a piece inspired by one of the Mending Walls murals. Poets were filmed by Diel @keepitonthediel and edited by Fuel & 19RED @19red.fuel
Ramani was given the Mending Walls mural “New Growth”, which was about Kali and Shiva. Her poem and performance are called “To find Moksha.”
