Loudoun County Magazine Student Editor Awarded $25,000 Scholarship from Chick-fil-A

Loudoun County Magazine Student Editor Emiya Diaz was awarded a $25,000 scholarship and Macbook pro from Chick-fil-A on March 17. Diaz is one of 12 recipients in 2021. Chick-fil-A has invested $92 million in scholarships to help over 59,000 Team Members pursue a college education.

Diaz says of the award, “I am so grateful for this scholarship and have worked hard to be able to get to this point in my life. I am thankful for everyone that has helped me along the way.”

Diaz applied in September 2020 and was selected because of her dedication to her community and her team members at the Dulles and Dumfries locations. Chick-fil-A made a surprise announcement at the Dumfries location where Diaz was working on March 17.

Diaz’s mother Shaye Brooks says of her daughter, “I’m so proud of Emiya. She deserves this. I can’t wait to see what the future holds because I know this is just the beginning of the impact she will make in this world.”

Diaz currently attends Potomac Falls High School and is attending Howard University in the Fall of 2021.
