Originally called ‘Farmwell,' after the name of George Lee lll’s mansion, Ashburn was first home to the Lee and Janney families. Lee eventually permitted construction of the WO&D railroad on a parcel of land through what is now Ashburn, and until recent decades, the area was known for its dairy farms. Today, Ashburn has expanded through its technological industry and residential development. It is now known as the ‘Data Center Capital of the World.' Ashburn is also home to The George Washington
University's Virginia Science and Technology Campus and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Janelia Research Campus. INOVA Sports Performance Center and the training camp for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League, are also located in Ashburn.

Ashburn Park is a wooded area with nature trails, pavilions, picnic areas, and a creek to walk along. This is a beautiful spot for a day out in nature with family and friends. The 16-acre park also has playgrounds for children making this the perfect place for people of all ages and interests.

Similar to Ashburn Park, Bles Park is a beautiful area for outdoor activities like fishing and also features recreational areas for football and soccer. Locals and visitors enjoy walking their dogs and having picnics in this area. The 124-acre park includes hiking, walking, and birding trails. Bles is home to many species of migratory songbirds and summer warblers. There are also some incredible wildflowers and butterflies.

This 45-mile trail is often called the skinniest park in Virginia. Along the WO&D trail, you will see many runners, cyclers, and skaters. You may even see equestrians who can ride along the 32-mile adjacent trail. Stretching from Shirlington to Purcellville, there are many stops and parking areas.
One Loudoun is a shopping and dining district robust with entertainment. With nearly 20 different restaurants, there is something to satisfy the tastebuds of all, from Uncle Julio’s Mexican delight to Matchbox's wood-fired pizzas and incredible burgers. Book lovers can shop at Barnes & Nobles, and movie goers can catch a flick at the Alamo Cinema Drafthouse. A year-round farmers market is open on Saturdays. Be sure to visit One Loudoun for their annual Halloween Bark Bash, Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony, and their summer One Loudoun Carnival at Uptown.
